“As a photographer I am boundlessly intrigued by what exists in nature. In this, I am a purist. I have no interest in that which can be enhanced, minimized, maximized or altered in any way after the moment has been captured. I respect those who have that desire yet it holds no interest to me. To an extreme, I don’t’ even want to recrop the image after it has been recorded. The challenge of capturing each moment in the exact way I wish to communicate it to you – is the discipline of arranging the frame and exposure while I am shooting in order to present it in a way I believe is most intriguing. Emotional. Communicative. Passionate.
Whether the deep insides of a crimson ginger bloom, the extreme detail of a saltwater Nunibranch or the piercing shadows of a giant redwood – our natural world represents an endless palette upon which I draw upon and expose myself within. One of my greatest joys is a blossoming or heightened sense of beauty or wonder on your part which you can then take out into the world and share with others. ….. to celebrate life.
Walk slowly. Breathe deeply and let yourself see within the images.”
“Photography is a way of telling how you feel about what you see.” – Ansel Adams
Jon Manning has been a professional photographer since 1981. Formally trained at Brooks Institute of Photography in Santa Barbara, California, Jon has proven his eye for capturing great moments throughout South America, the Caribbean, Mexico, the United States, Canada and Europe.
Many of these images have been sold as limited-edition fine art prints, stock images for advertising, calendars, posters and post cards. They are offered here for your enjoyment and any interest you may have in purchasing digital rights or as unframed, signed Giclee’ prints. The presentation of these images has been patterned after an afternoon stroll through a fine art gallery which begins in a main foyer and moves into separate exhibit wings.
“I hope within these images you will see a respect and passion in the wonders of life. It is my joy to share these moments with you.” -J.M.
